We have 4 fussy cats and a year ago we bought a Litter Robot 4 to reduce the work involved in keeping their toilets clean. The Litter Robot is a good product and has saved us a lot of work but it is hard to deep clean because of exposed electrical parts when you take it apart.
More importantly, one of our cats seems to be claustrophobic and doesn't like it so much being enclosed. So we recently bought a Neakasa to see if his problem could be solved by the open design, also because IMO you need two robots for 4 cats.
The Neakasa is great and a big advance on the Litter Robot.
Easy to setup, operate and clean and all 4 cats love it!
I did have a worry about odour as it is open but it doesn't seem to be a problem. (you'll notice the little white box on the wall in my photo is an ionic odour remover, which helps). The only minor irritation I have is the waste bags are a little bit fiddly to attach compared with the Litter Robot.
The app is also great, with a nice balance between too little and too much information, and it seems to detect the cat's weight well, so I've worked out who is who, which I never really managed with the Litter Robot. One improvement would be a measure of how full the waste bag is, since we like to change them before they get completely full because of our fussy cats!
In conclusion, for me the Neakasa is the best robot on the market at present and when our Litter Robot dies we'll likely replace it with a second Neakasa.

Being a new cat parent, i was overloaded with infos on getting the house ready for the addition of a new family member. Researching has taken almost all of my bed time until i chanced upon Neakasa M1’s review. Having seeing it in a physical store and watching video reviews, i knew i had to get one. And truly it did not disappoint~! My 5 month old kitten was so intrigued when i set it up and she started to use it with ease. It was so safe that even when thr machine was doing the smart clean up, my kitten climb on it out of curiosity and the machine would automatically stop and resume after my kitten has left. There were significantly less odours as well. And of course, as a busy ( LAZY ) parent, i do not have to scoop out the clumps as the M1 would dump them into the BIG waste tray. Neakasa M1 is definitely a game changer in cat parenting~!

Does Neakasa M1 require special litter?
The M1 automatic cat litter box effectively handles clumping or scoopable waste. However, it's not compatible with highly absorbent, non-clumping, loosely clumping, newspaper, or wood pellet litters. The M1's maximum filter sifts particles up to 3mm in diameter and 10mm in length. We recommend using fast-clumping, non-strip, granular litter like bentonite cat litter or mineral sand.
Does Neakasa m1 litter box have a weight limit?
Neakasa M1 features open-top spacious design, it almost does not have a weight limit. But we recommend it for cats weighing 2.2-33 lbs for the best comfort. If your kitty is less than 2.2 lbs, we suggest choose our special Kitten Mode to prevents automatic cleaning and ensure kitty safe.
How often do I need to empty the waste bin?
Usually you only need to empty the waste container about 14 days for one cat. You can also check the status of the waste bin on Neakasa APP in order to clean up the waste timely.
Does Neakasa M1 keep my cat safe?
To ensure your cat's safety, there are 5 pairs of infrared sensors and 4 weight sensors inside the Neakasa M1. It automatically pauses when a cat touches or enters into the device. While your cat is inside, the weight sensors will ensure that the device stays still until your cat exits.
